Individual Member

Eligibility
To be eligible for individual membership, you must be involved in education, training, service, administration, or research in the field of urban affairs.

Benefits
Individual members:

  • Receive copies of all UAA publications released during the membership year. The major UAA publication is the Journal of Urban Affairs, which is now published eight times per year.
  • May submit pieces for the UAA News section of the UAA web site. These news items are also shared in our email alerts and across our social media platforms.
  • Are eligible for reduced conference registration rates for the conference held each spring.
  • May vote in Governing Board elections.
  • May serve on national UAA committees.
  • May nominate persons for UAA Awards.

Dues
Individual dues are $83.

Retired individuals are eligible for a 50% discount on individual membership dues. Contact membership@uaamail.org to request discount coupon code. Please provide proof of retirement status. Important: No other discounts are offered for individual membership dues.

No institutional or personal checks are accepted for membership payments. Your membership will begin on January 1 and end on December 31.

Student Member

To be eligible for a student membership, you must be a current undergraduate or graduate student with an interest in urban affairs.

A special student membership rate of $42 per year  is available for currently enrolled students.

Institutional Member

Eligibility
Any formally organized unit or organization that engages in education, research, training, service or administration in the field of urban affairs shall be eligible for Institutional Membership subject to Board review. A “formally organized unit or organization” is defined as an operational entity possessing attributes such as a budgeted staff, office space, website presence, and a professional head.

Benefits

  1. Discounted conference registration rate. Each institutional member will designate ONE representative that serves as the primary contact between UAA and the institution or institutional unit (e.g., University, School, Department, Research Center, etc.). That person (or a designee) is eligible for a discounted conference registration rate that is lower than the discounted rate offered to individual members.
  2. Eight issues of Journal of Urban Affairs. Institutional members receive a copy of each issue of the Journal of Urban Affairs, the major UAA publication, which is now published eight times year.
  3. Link your program/department website to UAA’s website to gain greater visibility. Institutional members get the opportunity to link their program/department website to UAA’s website to gain greater visibility, and recruit potential students.
  4. Eligibility to establish urban studies honor society. Institutional members are eligible to apply to establish a chapter of Upsilon Sigma-The Urban Studies Honor Society. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to become members.
  5. Share news about your institution or unit with wider UAA community. Institutional members may submit items to be posted on the UAA News section of the UAA website. These news items are also shared in our email alerts and across our social media platforms.
  6. Post Job Ads for FREE. Institutional members may place job ads on the UAA website free of charge throughout the year. This benefit represents a $300 waiver of normal ad fees.
  7. Rental of postal mailing list. Institutional members can request one free rental per year of UAA’s comprehensive postal mailing list (another $300 value benefit).
  8. Free exhibit space at annual conference. Institutional members are eligible to receive free exhibit space at our conferences (a $150 value).

 

Dues
Institutional dues for UAA are $353 per year.
