We invite outstanding individuals to apply for a position at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor, at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences. Qualified candidates will also be considered for either the Grace Longwell Coyle or Henry L Zucker endowed chairs. Mid-career researchers/scholars with outstanding accomplishments at the level of Associate Professor are encouraged to apply.

The Mandel School combines a high level of scientific productivity with cutting-edge teaching modalities and technology. It offers master’s degrees in social work and non-profit organizations and a PhD degree in social welfare. The research infrastructure is robust, including multi-disciplinary research centers, platforms to manage big data within a secure research environment and facilities for clinical and community studies. In both research and education, we work across multiple levels to understand social, environmental and human systems and to design interventions to increase well-being. We seek faculty members with expertise and experience working to take on some of society’s most pressing challenges.
- An earned PhD in social work or related field
- A strong record of substantive publications in refereed journals and books
- Recognized national and international leadership in social work or social welfare
- Extensive record of research funding from federal government and/or national
foundations to support the candidate’s work and potential to continue to attract external funding
- Receipt of honors and awards
- A record of successful teaching and mentoring students at the Master’s and Doctoral levels
- Demonstration of excellent oral and written communication skills
- A master’s degree in social work from a program accredited by CSWE
- Experience working collaboratively with community partners across systems and disciplines to improve the well-being of vulnerable populations and communities is highly desired
Based on the interests and qualifications of the candidate, a secondary appointment with another department within the eight schools and multiple centers at CWRU is possible.
