The Nohad A. Toulan School of Urban Studies and Planning is recruiting for a non-tenure track instructional faculty member (NTTF) in the area of Community Development. We seek candidates whose expertise complements the existing strengths of the faculty, and are especially interested in areas such as: migration and immigrant communities, Latinx communities, energy and climate justice, neighborhood change, Black/African-American studies, ethnic studies, big data and online communities, social movements, and urban history and sociology more broadly.
We seek a colleague who will enthusiastically contribute to strengthening our academic programs and interdisciplinary collaborations and whose work will effect positive social change. The successful candidate will be a dedicated, creative teacher-scholar able to foster success for our diverse student body. PSU is an urban-serving university with strong representation of veterans, first-generation college students, LGBTQ+ people, Pell Grant recipients, and adult learners among the student body. This is a career position with pathways to promotion and continuous appointment.
Job duties for this position include teaching courses and university service.
Applicants should have a terminal professional degree in a relevant field such as a master’s in urban planning, or a Ph.D. in a relevant field such as community development, urban studies, urban planning, environmental studies, sociology, anthropology, geography, gender studies, or ethnic studies. Candidates should have prior experience with university-level teaching (as demonstrated by at least one course taught post-master’s degree or advancement to PhD candidacy, or have served as a graduate teaching assistant for at least two courses).
