Job Description:
The Department of Public Administration and Policy at the University at Albany’s Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor beginning fall 2020. Applicants must possess a specialization in public budgeting, public finance, and /or public financial management. The ideal candidates must be committed to excellence in scholarly research and should be effective teachers. Faculty in Rockefeller College are expected to pursue an active research program, teach and supervise undergraduate and graduate students, and engage in service activities.

We welcome applications from candidates engaged in high-quality research and who employ a variety of methodological approaches. Applicants must have a research agenda that demonstrates a substantial, on-going interest in government and the public sector.

Candidates are expected to teach core undergraduate and graduate courses as well as courses that are specific to the Department’s public financial concentration.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Public Administration, Public Affairs, or an allied field such as Economics or Finance from a college or university accredited by a US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization. The degree must be completed on or before September 1, 2020
  • A trajectory that suggests a tenurable research record
  • Ability to teach core public budgeting and financial management graduate and undergraduate courses
  • Ability and willingness to mentor graduate and undergraduate students
  • Potential to fulfill the mission of Rockefeller College
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Applicants must address in their applications their ability to work with culturally diverse populations
    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to teach undergraduate statistics courses
  • Experience in the practice of public or managerial finance
  • Experience seeking grants
