The Department of Urban Planning and Public Policy in the School of Social Ecology invites applications for a pool of qualified lecturers to teach courses in its Master of Urban and Regional Planning program. We seek applicants with expertise to teach courses in the following topic areas: community and economic development, community engagement, housing planning practice, legal dimensions of planning, plan development and implementation, public participation, site design, site development, sustainability planning, and transportation planning practice. The need for lecturers to teach specific courses varies by year. The campus is currently planning for fully on campus instruction starting in Fall 2021, but course instructors may be required to switch to a remote instruction format if campus and public health guidelines require.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include preparing course materials (syllabus, assignments, etc.), maintaining a course website, holding office hours, assigning grades, and advising students.

Required: B.A. or B.S. in a field appropriate to the course (e.g., Urban Planning, Urban Studies, Geography, Community Studies, Public Policy). At least 3 years of professional working experience in the fields of urban planning, public policy, and/or community engagement.

Desired: An M.A. or M.S. in a field appropriate to the course (e.g., Urban Planning, Urban Studies, Geography, Community Studies, and Public Policy). Experience teaching practice-oriented planning courses at the undergraduate or graduate level. Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and participation in professional planning organizations is a plus.
