The Department of City & Metropolitan Planning (CMP) within the University of Utah’s College of Architecture + Planning invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in urban ecology. This position will be a 9-month appointment (1.0 FTE) to begin on July 1, 2021, with the possibility of renewal for one additional academic year.
We invite applicants who have expertise in several of the following areas: urban ecology, environmental science, hydrology, landscape ecology/architecture, or environmental planning. The successful candidate will have the capability to work across a range of scales from the neighborhood to the region, potentially addressing issues related to the Intermountain West and engaging local communities. The appointee will teach courses in our undergraduate and graduate programs and play an active research role in the Center for Ecological Planning & Design (CEPD): http://cepd.cap.utah.edu/. The CEPD is an interdisciplinary hub for explorations at the nexus of social, ecological and built environment disciplines with a current strong focus on embedded research on sustainable landscapes, green infrastructure, and water management in the semi-arid West.
Applicants will be reviewed as submitted and hiring may occur before July 31.
