UAA Office sends Nominations Committee special memo identifying Board members that are exiting and those that are eligible to stand for re-election. The memo specifies how many open board seats are to be filled.

Nominations Committee is also given supporting documents such as the official Governing Board Member Responsibilities document.

Nominations Committee is given UAA current membership list to verify membership status of any suggested nominee.

E-mail notices are sent to all members by UAA Executive Office.
Members are encouraged to submit nominee suggestions to the Nominations Committee Chair.

How to Make Suggestions to the Nominations Committee

Step 1.  Contact your suggested nominee
Before completing the recommendation form, you must verify that the individual(s) is/are willing to stand for election, if formally nominated by the Nominations Committee. Sometimes the person(s) you have in mind may be already fully committed to other roles, or may have life plans that may prevent their engagement in the board. On the other hand, your show of support may convince them that they should stand for election. So we ask that you reach out to the person(s) you want to suggest and get their reaction to the idea before you submit their name(s).

Step 2. Obtain the CV or resume for your suggested nominee
You will be required to include the URL (web address) for the CV or resume during the recommendation process.

Step 3. Make your suggestion using the UAA online form
Submit nominee suggestions to the Nominations Committee Chair via the Recommendation to the Nominations Committee Form.

The Nominations Committee will consider all suggestions in developing the initial list of nominees.

Initial list of nominees e-mailed by the UAA Executive Office to all 2021 UAA members. Instructions for additional nominations by petition are included.


November 2021

November 8, 2021

Deadline for nominations by petition to be sent to the UAA Office.

November 9, 2021

The UAA Executive Director verifies that the petitions have met the requirements for nomination and informs the Nominations Committee of any additions to the ballot.

November 12, 2021

On-line ballot established and voting begins. UAA Executive Office sends voting instructions to current 2021 members via email.

November 29, 2021

On-line voting closes at 5:00pm (CST).

November 30, 2021

UAA Executive Office informs Nominations Committee Chair of voting outcomes.

November 30, 2021

Nominations Committee Chair informs candidates of election outcomes.

Election outcomes announced by the Nominations Committee Chair at the UAA Annual Business meeting.

Immediately following the Annual Business Meeting, the new Board meets in formal session. During this meeting, the Nominations Chair announces slate and voting outcomes for Board officers: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer. Note: only Board members vote in officer elections.
