CONFERENCE PARTICIPATION IN THREE (3) STEPS

There are three (3) steps involved in participating in the conference as a speaker/paper presenter/moderator/organizer/poster presenter.
Step 1: Complete your Conference Orientation; Step 2: Determine how you want to participate; and Step 3: Submit your Conference Participation Form.

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT PARTICIPATION FORM: October 1, 2023 at 11:59pm CDT

The deadline for submissions has passed. Late submissions are not accepted.
Review decisions will be announced on Wednesday, October 25.

STEP 1: Complete Your Conference Orientation

A few minutes spent on review = hours saved in mistakes and confusion.

We know you want to move on to submitting a proposal…..but spending some time getting to know the conference and basic policies will help avoid confusion and costly mistakes. Please take the time to review the conference elements below:

PRE-SUBMISSION CHECKLIST REVIEW

Present a research paper

An individual who has a research paper they want to present. This option is best for a person who is ready to share research findings. If accepted, individual papers are assigned to a session by the Program Committee.

Review the paper submission checklist and gather the required information.

Present a poster

An individual who wants to present their research during the scheduled poster session. This option is best for persons who are at an early stage in their research.

Review the poster submission checklist and gather the required information for a poster proposal.

Present a research paper on a panel that has been pre-organized

An individual who has been invited by a panel organizer to make a paper presentation with a group of other colleagues.

Review the submission checklist for a paper in a pre-organized session, and get the necessary information from your panel organizer.

Speak in a roundtable discussion

An individual involved in an informal roundtable discussion. There can be up to 3 other speakers leading the discussion.

Review the submission checklist for a roundtable discussion and gather the required information.

Speak in a colloquy session

An individual who has been invited by a colloquy organizer to make formal comments on a selected topic alongside other colleagues.

Review the submission checklist for a speaker in a colloquy session, get the necessary information from the colloquy organizer.

Organize a colloquy session

An individual who identifies a topic for a colloquy discussion, and invites 4-5 colleagues to contribute as speakers.

Organize a research paper panel

An individual who identifies a topic for a research paper panel, and invites 4-5 colleagues to present individual papers on that topic.

Organize a roundtable discussion

An individual who identifies a topic for an informal roundtable discussion. There should be a minimum of one discussion leader.

Volunteer to moderate a session

An individual who is not involved in any other form of participation, but would like to play a limited role as a moderator. UAA moderators ARE NOT discussants. Their primary role is to make introductions and manage time.

STEP 3: Submit Your Conference Participation Form

There is one form used to collect individual paper/poster abstracts, panel/colloquy/roundtable proposals and volunteer moderator submissions. If you decide to skip Steps 1 and 2 above, you will likely have questions during the process of completing the Participation Form. If you get lost, go back to the submission checklist for your desired type of participation.
