Paper Formatting
Reminder: We do not have official conference paper guidelines. Papers are accepted in any format that is acceptable in a presenter’s discipline. Typically, conference papers are no more than 30 pages of text (not including tables, figures and references) and double-spaced with .75 to 1 inch margin.

Please keep in mind that if you wish to submit your paper to the Journal of Urban Affairs (JUA) or Journal of Race, Ethnicity and the City (JRE), the journals have specific guidelines that authors must adhere to. You may find more information at the Journal of Urban Affairs — Author Resources page or the Journal of Race, Ethnicity and the City–-Author Resources page.

Moderator Role

Moderators are primarily responsible for introductions, keeping the time, and alerting presenters of remaining minutes, as well as managing the open discussion period. They are expected to maintain an atmosphere conducive to open and collegial discussion of ideas. Moderators are not discussants. However, each moderator is responsible for making a brief introduction (1 minute) of each paper.

Each paper presenter is responsible for sending the moderator an electronic copy of their paper by April 1. The expectation is that moderators will do a quick review of the paper to obtain enough information to make an introduction. Moderators are not expected to provide review comments. Detailed Moderator Guidelines
