Edited Volumes

The Rights to the City book series welcomes proposals for high-quality edited volumes. However, to be considered for publication, proposed collections must be innovative, rigorously developed, and forward a clear overarching argument or perspective.

Editors are expected to actively ensure that their books – and their contributing authors – clearly, coherently, and consistently develop the central theme towards a significant collective intervention. Careful selection of contributors is vital, and empirical contributions should be presented in a manner that systematically addresses the volume’s broader claims. Direct debate and engagement between chapters is encouraged. Plans to foster sustained intellectual exchange and dialogue between contributors (for example, author workshops, internal peer review) should be included in the proposal submission.

Edited volumes should include substantive introductions that situate the book in relation to key work in the field and robustly articulate the core concepts, ideas, debates, and/or methodologies underpinning the collection. Editorial conclusions are highly recommended to provide a clear synthesis of the book’s contributions and implications for future research and action.

All chapters must adhere to the standards of articles published in UAA journals.
