Our department offers a wide range of programs, including a NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration, an accelerated BA/MPA, an Executive MPA, an MS/PhD in Public Affairs, and a BA in Urban Studies and Community Development. We are open to candidates specializing in any field of study within Public Administration.
We seek faculty who can contribute to both in-person and online teaching needs, including core MPA courses such as Foundations of Policy Analysis, Law and Public Policy, Public and Nonprofit Management, Human Resource Management, Public Information Systems, and Organizational Behavior. Additionally, applicants will have the opportunity to teach courses in their area of expertise and our Public Management and Community Development specializations. Teaching responsibilities include 2 courses per semester. The successful candidate is expected to have online teaching experience with synchronous and hybrid classes and to contribute to the teaching needs of our off-campus Executive MPA program.
Preference will be given to candidates who can teach across our MPA and MS/PhD programs. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to maintain a solid research program leading to high quality publications in refereed journals; actively engage in professional organizations; advise students and serve on doctoral dissertation committees; and to perform service to the department, college, and university.
Minimum Position Requirements: Ph.D. in Public Administration/Public Affairs or a strongly related field by the start of employment and a commitment to fostering achievement with a diverse student population.
Preferred Qualifications: Potential for a substantial publication record in quality refereed journals in public administration/public affairs; interest in engaged research and applied policy using Camden and the Greater Philadelphia region as a laboratory; demonstrated excellence in teaching, and the ability to contribute to more than one degree program.
