Publishing Fellows Program

However, if accepted, you must renew or become a UAA member.

Description

The Scholar Development Editors (SDEs) of the Journal of Urban Affairs (JUA), will host the UAA Publishing Fellows Program. 

The Publishing Fellows Program is for early career scholars (Doctoral students, untenured assistant professors). The year-long program includes writing and publication workshops, as well as individual and group opportunities for faculty feedback on participants’ individual manuscripts.

The application process takes place in July-August. Selected participants are required to submit a 2 – 3 page paper outline by November with the goal of completing a full version of the manuscript ready for submission to a peer-reviewed journal by the completion of the program in August of the following year.

Expectations

  1. Submission of a 2 – 3 page paper outline by November
  2. Completion of a full version of the manuscript ready for submission to a peer-reviewed journal by the completion of the program in August
  3. Attendance at Intro Meeting (Fellows, SDEs, and Reviewers)
  4. Attendance at Fall Webinar
  5. Completing manuscript-related writing, revision
  6. Attending any manuscript-related one-on-one meetings
  7. Participation in UAA Conference Publishing Fellows Meeting
  8. Participation in UAA Conference Publishing Fellows Recruitment Meeting for Next Cohort

Unless specified, all activities occur live via Zoom.
