About UAA Meal and Reception Prices

Why are breakfast meals and receptions priced as they are? Firstly, UAA does not use trimmed down menus (e.g., beverage and pastries for breakfast). We provide hot breakfast buffets, free drinks and nice snacks at receptions.

Secondly, the prices charged by UAA reflect the cost of a hotel-catered event. Such events have a pricing structure (familiar to wedding planners) that is completely different from a restaurant or take-out food establishment. For example, a typical UAA hotel-catered breakfast buffet has a base cost between $45 and $55. In cities like New York and San Francisco, this price may approach $70! Shockingly, these prices do not include 24-26% service charges and 6-15% taxes. The service charges and taxes can add another $14-$25 to the base price. UAA only charges attendees the base cost of the meal. Bottom line: UAA subsidizes each meal.

Meal and reception events at UAA conferences are prime opportunities to network with colleagues. Breakfast meals have an added benefit of access to Breakfast Roundtable discussions on a range of stimulating topics.

Reservation Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations must be received 72 hours prior to arrival.
  • Cancellations made within 72 hours will be charged a penalty of 1 night’s room and tax to credit card on reservation.
  • You may modify or cancel your reservation [using the link provided in your confirmation email] or call 877-901-6632 in the US and Canada. Elsewhere, call 615-255-8400.
Registration Policies
  • A UAA membership is not required to register for and attend the conference. However, UAA members  receive a registration discount. Become a UAA member!
  • Local practitioners listed on the program are eligible for a registration waiver. Requests for waivers from local practitioners who are participating as program presenters should be made using the Local Practitioner Waiver Request Form.
  • Accepted forms of payment – only online credit card payments will be accepted with one exception.
    • Exception: Institutional check payments covering 3 or more registrants. Such payments must be pre-approved by the UAA Executive Office. A processing fee of $60 per registrant will be added to each invoice paid by institutional check. This fee covers the additional staff time and accounting required to process check payment. Prior approval for institutional check payments must be requested at reg@uaamail.org.
  • Refund Policy – Due to financial commitments (e.g., guarantees of a certain number of meal servings, transportation contractual arrangements) that UAA must make in the weeks leading up to the conference, your fees are expended regardless of whether you attend or not. This is why we cannot refund your fees after a certain date.
    • Registration refund deadline = March 15, 2023
      This is the last day to request a registration refund minus the applicable administrative processing fee (Administrative fee: $140 for non-students; $70 for students).
    • March 16, 2023 and later
      No Registration Refunds Granted

Ticket Sales Policies
  • Tickets can only be purchased by a person who is registered for the conference.
  • UAA is required by caterers to “guarantee” a specific number of diners at least 14-21 days in advance of each meal or reception. Once this number is fixed, UAA is financially obligated to pay for this guaranteed number regardless of how many people attend. To meet this requirement and provide an accurate guarantee, ticket sales and ticket refunds will end on April 11, 2023.
  • Some meals and receptions may have space constraints. If the maximum capacity for these events is reached, ticket sales will close before April 4, 2023.
  • Due to local, county and state liquor laws, and liability insurance restrictions, individuals under the legal age for alcohol consumption are not allowed to attend UAA receptions.

  1. Provide UAA with evidence of ENHR/EURA membership. Contact reg@uaamail.org to provide evidence of a membership for the 2023 calendar year.
  2. Register using UAA-provided discount code after UAA has verified your ENHR/EURA membership. After you receive the confirmation email from reg@uaamail.org verifying your membership, proceed to register for the conference using the provided discount code. Note: You will select a non-member rate, and the discount code will provide you with the member registration rate.
