The Department of Architecture invites applications for two junior positions in urban design and/or urban planning:
Assistant Professor (Tenure Track)
Assistant Professor (Practice Track)
The Department seeks two forward-thinking and inspirational candidates for the position of Assistant Professor who will contribute to graduate programmes in urban planning and design (here and here). We are particularly interested in candidates who are able to work across disciplines to address pressing environmental, urban, and social challenges in Asia. Research expertise in physical planning, urban development and governance, geo-spatial analysis, climate resilience and social equity is highly desired.
Applicants for the Tenure track position should hold a Ph.D. by the time of appointment. Candidates should have a strong research trajectory that has the potential to secure future grants and lead the chosen field of specialization at the international level. The Department is particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate how their research can be integrated in or developed with studio pedagogy. The successful candidate will be expected to lead urban design and planning studios in the various graduate degree programmes offered by the Department. In addition, he/she is expected to teach core courses and electives based on his/her specialization.
Applicants for the Practice track position should hold a relevant graduate degree (Master or above) by the time of appointment. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in professional practice and demonstrate the potential to be a leader in a domain of specialization. A good professional network in the Asian region that can enrich the student experience and raise the profile of the Department will be an advantage. The successful candidate will lead urban design and planning studios in the various graduate degree programmes offered by the Department. In addition, he/she is expected to teach core courses and electives based on his/her specialization.
