Would you like to support your fellow early career colleagues and get a free conference registration waiver for the ICUA 2026 Conference in Chicago? UAA is looking for early career discussants to share their experiences navigating career issues as part of our Fall 2025 Early Career Professional Development Webinar entitled:
Shifting Landscapes: Strategies and Ideas for Navigating Your Early Career Plans
- Webinar Date: Friday, November 7, 2025
- Time: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Eastern Time
- Where: Zoom
- Target Audience: Early career (dissertation-stage students, postdocs and recent graduates)
Webinar discussants will share their experiences and survival strategies in navigating early career plans. This includes but is not limited to:
- navigating a difficult academic job market
- facing loss of funding for research and assistantships
- finding opportunities in non-academic or hybrid work
- balancing academic, career and personal lives
The overall goal of this webinar is to be a virtual support space to connect and share with others facing similar challenges, or to just listen in! All those navigating early career planning and challenges are encouraged and welcome to attend – UAA membership is not required.

Selected discussants will have a 3-hour time commitment:
- 1 hour — Brainstorming Meeting with UAA staff and Professional Development Coordinator
- 1 hour — Mock session (usually one week in advance of the webinar).
- 1 hour — Webinar on November 7, 2025 | 12 PM – 1PM Eastern Time
In addition to adding a line to their professional vitae/resumé, discussants will receive a free conference registration waiver for ICUA 2026 in Chicago.
