The Urban Affairs Association has long been a community that celebrates, encourages, and benefits from mentoring. In April of 2026, the UAA Governing Board approved a proposal to recognize colleagues who have made significant contributions to our community through mentoring early career scholars.
DEADLINE: October 16, 2026 (11:59pm CDT) – Last day to submit a nomination
Individuals with a significant track record of mentoring early career students and faculty within their institutions, other institutions, and UAA. Nominators must be UAA members, however nominees do not need to be UAA members.

Each year, the award is determined by a committee appointed by the Chair of the UAA Governing Board. Nominations are requested from UAA members. The committee chair reports the decision to the UAA Executive Director. The UAA Executive Office notifies the recipient. The award is formally presented at the Awards and Recognitions Program held during the annual conference.
