Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP)

AESOP was founded in 1987 and has been registered as a non-profit association under Belgian law since May 1992. The formal charter establishing AESOP was signed in Dortmund, Germany in 1987 and has the following objectives:

to represent the interest of planning schools in Europe in national and international administrations and organisations, particularly within Europe
to promote the development of teaching and research in the field of planning
to facilitate co-operation and exchange between planning schools in Europe, and to encourage the harmonisation and equivalence of their degrees
to articulate a European dimension within planning education as part of the process of institutional co-operation and integration within Europe, bearing in mind also the prospect of increasing professional mobility within Europe
to foster and enrich higher education in planning across Europe by mutual support, including facilitating dialogue, exchange visits and the spread of information
to defend the cause of expanding and enhancing higher education in planning and
to promote a progressive approach to planning education in schools of planning by experts with a rounded view again

European Network for Housing Research (ENHR)

The European Network for Housing Research (ENHR) was established in 1988 to provide an organizational platform for institutions and individuals in (and outside) Europe, who are actively engaged in housing research. It now has about 1000 individual and nearly 100 institutional members representing almost every country in Europe. Although ENHR is an European network, researchers from outside Europe are also very welcome to join.

European Urban Research Association (EURA)

The aims of the European Urban Research Association (EURA) are the promotion of urban research as well as the dissemination and communication of research findings to the public (education of the general public). These aims are realized especially by the organization of public conferences and lectures, the publishing and promotion of scientific results and an international exchange of experience and ideas.

International Studies Association

The International Studies Association is one of the oldest interdisciplinary associations dedicated to understanding international, transnational and global affairs. Founded in 1959, its more than 7,000 members span the globe – comprising academics, practitioners, policy experts, private sector workers and independent researchers, among others. The Association has long served as a central hub for the exchange of ideas and for networking and programmatic initiatives among those involved in the study, teaching and practice of International Studies.

Through its highly attended Annual Convention and regional/international conferences, as well as its respected journals and International Studies Encyclopedia, the Association promotes rigorous discussion, research and writing on a broad range of topics within International Studies, broadly construed. ISA also offers various funding, bridging and mentoring opportunities that facilitate the development of new ideas, relationships and skillsets. These opportunities provide a space for underrepresented groups, early career scholars and other professionals to grow in the field.

As an Association dedicated to posing and answering questions regarding some of the most pressing issues of our time, ISA is composed of a variety of Sections, Caucuses and Regions that seek to facilitate their members’ analysis of, and engagement with, the world of international, transnational and global affairs writ large.
